The Good Room
The Good Room is an Audio and Music Production Studio in Winnipeg, MB Canada. With precisely tailored rooms to capture and enhance sound for the best emotional impact possible. Here in Winnipeg, boasting an average of 318 days of sunlight a year, with east and north facing windows, The Good Room invites the natural light into its creative spaces.
Home to musician, producer and mixing engineer Elessar Thiessen, after many years of working out of commercial studios, Elessar decided to design and build a studio he could call home. This is his happy place.
All rooms are wired up for recording to suit any and all needs that might present themselves.
Low latency cameras and monitors are placed in every room to provide clear communication paths.
A small kitchenette is available with fridge, microwave, coffee and other amenities
-
A Control room designed and tuned, with custom made soffit mounted speaker monitors, to provide a ruler flat frequency response. This is necessary for precise listening, recording, mixing and mastering. If it sounds good in here, it’ll sound good everywhere.
A collection of high end recording equipment at your disposal and sunlight overhead.
-
A live room with a cathedral ceiling, stretching from over 12’ tall, down to 10’. Controlled, yet still alive for tracking big drums, strings, choirs and anything else that needs a big room sound.
A beautiful space to shoot a video. Lots of natural light.
-
A Medium sized isolation booth. Not quite dead, not quite live sounding. Acoustic guitars, tight “jazz” drums, upright bass. this room excels at highlighting the nuance of every instrument you put in it.
-
Well treated to expel any unwanted reflections. Cozy, yet spacious. From a soaring Vocal, to a quiet VoiceOver. Where all you want is what you get.
